From the author:
I don't know how many people will notice the connection for the names of Tori's cats. I'm told it's very subtle. They are named after some of Jane Austen's heroes. George Knightly is from Emma, Henry Tilney is from Northanger Abby, and Fitz is short for Fitzwilliam Darcy. I think everyone knows which book he's in. This is why she refers to them as gentlemen throughout the book.
From the book:
Tori was glad to have the time with her family but just as glad to be home again. Fitz, George and Henry missed her. The three gentlemen followed her closely while she put down her luggage and two of them circled her as she squatted to pet them while Fitz flopped on his side to expose plenty of surface area for her.“This would be easier if I had three hands. Then I wouldn’t have to alternate who I’m petting.” She smiled and moved one hand to Fitz as Henry went behind her again. “Although with the circling, it almost feels as though you’re trying to take turns.”
The rumble of purrs surrounded Tori with a feeling of welcome and a reluctance to do anything else. “I only have a few hours before the Christmas Festival,” she told the cats, who continued to bask in her attention. “I should really get unpacked and organized for that. But you’re all so cute and soft.”
Fitz mashed his face against her knee in a clear insistence that she was exactly where she belonged. Tori let herself sink all the way to sitting on the floor. She imagined telling Simon that she couldn’t help out after all because the cats needed attention. Henry stepped into her lap and began to knead.
